"Tanzer had been working at the mill on May 6, removing copper for salvage as a temporary employee of mill owner Jerry Jones, when he cut an electrical transmission cable and received a jolt that produced burns of his head and neck. He subsequently filed a lien against Jones' Western Properties, in the amount of $1 million, in a bid for compensation. The fire occurred 20 days after he was injured. Paper-making operations at the Strathmore mill ended in 1994 when it was shut down by International Paper, with the loss of 123 jobs."
