Shelburne Falls and Colrain Railway.ca. 1896; "The company received a valuable asset in 1896 in the shape of the Shelburne Falls and Colrain Street Railway. This enterprise, so typical of the time, enabled the abandoning of most of the teaming out of the village. Of course, the coming of the Troy and Greenfield railroad, some twenty five years previously had been a great help, but it was still necessary to cart to Shelburne Falls. The road was built fully as much for freight as for passenger service."
