dc.descriptionprobably winter view of old freight road between Colrain and Greenfield (Cheapside) over Colrain Mountain (photo ca. 1939); "Transportation of cotton and cloth seems to have been handled with no trouble. Horse and team brought raw materials from Cheapside (Greenfield) wharves up over Colrain Mountain and down the back road, now abandoned for 70 years. A walk over the old location makes one wonder how many horses it took to pull a load of cloth up, as it is almost incredibly steep. But obstacles like this were not even considered such in the 30's"
