May 15. 83 [1883] -- -- B.N. Amidon -- Dr Sir, -- I have delayed from answering your 30th alt. until now because I have been unable to make any headway in the enterprise since I saw you. Most of the parties owning interest adjoining want more money than was at first proposed to me. So that the chances today are very much against my being able to make my scheme work.
