Dec 23, 81 [1881] -- My dear Daughter, -- It is customary at this season of the year to make presents of useless things. I have no taste in selecting them and so send you my check for fifty dollars for you to use to buy a present for yourself and little Sally. I was in Boston a few days ago and sent George some cigars which I trust he received. -- With much love for you your affectionate father, -- John Keith --
