Dec 8 79 [1879] -- Friend Davenport, -- Your 3 -- d -- came to hand just as I was going away. My impression is that you had better make a trade with the Hampshire Co. for a term of tears at the best price you can get. It is generally thought business will be good for the next five years and it will not require much labor to dispose of the product of a mill. If it --  ; -- Davenport may have been Chester Davenport a lawyer representing the Town of Gill during the assessment of costs for the construction of the Upper “Red” Suspension Bridge (1878).
