dc.descriptionAug 27 79 [1879] -- Friend Devens, -- I believe M.r Farren has written you about his friend John [Felam] of Hopkinsville Ky. who he wishes to have the place of District Judge of Louisville. A place made vacant by the death of Judge Ballard. Mr. Farren has been engaged in coal mining in that vicinity for several years and is well acquainted with Mr [Felam] and I think he would not recommend him --
